My bandmate, Timmy Straw. I cry just thinking about it now, how lucky we are to have each other, and all the magic nights and dogwalks. Phaedra will miss Elsa.
My best friends in the world I wouldn't have had time to make anywhere else. Jenstar and Sarah D. Mike McGonigal and Dexter Flowers, Steve Gevurtz, Metal Nikki, Leilani Rosa. St wtf how can you be so great. Michelle C and Kaetlin K. Lago! Alaistair! Manny Reyes. The fucking Queers! The fucking artists! The fucking music makers! How you all showed me so many things. How you gave me so much! How you give SO MUCH. How fantastic and creative and smart but most importantly, how kind you all are. Portland, you taught me the importance of being kind. I came to this soft city an uptight, insecure, scared and sometimes petty person and you loved me, anyway, and rustled me along gently into being a conscious, less angry, less petty, centered human bean.
The woods everywhere, the green, the moss, the ferns, it is easy to take for granted. The gorge. Angel's rest. Forest Park. Rooster Rock. The Washougal. Mount Hood.
The unpretentious people who try. May at Nationale! Emily at Sword and Fern! In Other Words! Fat Fancy! the small shops helmed by fashionable special ladies: Frances May, Una, Rad Summer. Who inspire us to do it all ourselves a bit more, and to shop local. And to stay real.

Am I just taking an expensive working vacation to the city of Angels? Or will I be back to the city of Roses sometime? I will try to take it with me, hold it inside of me.
